Thank you for your interest in North Fork Senior Connections.
Our goal is to find local solutions to help our senior neighbors to age in place.
Seniors and/or disabled individuals joining our organization are able to call in or log in to post requests for assistance from volunteers in the community.
Tasks our volunteers are able to help with have included:
· driving to appointments, grocery store, etc
· errands such as shopping, car wash, etc
· light yard work, raking, weeding, lawn mowing
· handy services such as changing light bulbs, lighting furnace pilot lights, etc.
· light housework or home organizing
· friendly visits or weekly check-in phone calls
· occasional respite for family caregivers
· snow shoveling
· occasional pet care
· computer/technology help
But we are more than a service to connect volunteers with seniors! We also hold social and educational events to help our members remain connected within the community such as celebration picnics and parties, educational events, and community activities.
Our most popular community activity is our twice-yearly Saturday Service Day.
In the fall and spring, we recruit volunteers to help us tackle bigger jobs that our members need help with such as cleaning gutters (1st floor), window washing, raking and pruning in the yard. We work during the morning and celebrate as a team with an organization provided lunch.
Members of North Fork Senior Connections both receive and provide services. There is one application for both roles, all new applicants need to pass a background check (paid for by NF Senior Connections).
